Hello everyone! This winter has been a busy and creative season at my workroom. Besides making slipcovers for my customers, I’ve been hard at work finishing my new ebook, finding and testing new fabrics, discovering new techniques and tools, and improving some back end website stuff that will make your visit here more enjoyable. I have a lot to share so let’s get started!

The Slipcover Maker's Business Guidebook

My New Ebook

Starting and running a custom slipcover workroom, and making a good living at it, requires so much more than machines, tools and knowing how to sew. I found that out the hard way. But, with a lot of trial and error, long hours and the right professionals to guide me, I figured out how to succeed. Today, my business is flourishing!

I’m very excited to release my new ebook, The Slipcover Maker’s Business Guidebook. It’s a practical, easy-to-read guide packed with step-by-step instructions, best practices and resources to help you successfully start and run your one-person, home-based custom slipcover workroom.

This is the guidebook I wish I had when I started my business, The Slipcover Maker!

Fabric Find

Hemp is my favorite natural fiber especially when it’s undyed and woven in canvas, twill or herringbone. I just finished testing five new hemp fabrics. All of them are gorgeous and perfect for washable slipcovers. I love them more than any linen fabric I’ve found! Read my reviews here. In the meantime, be prepared to fall in love with this 11 oz natural taupe hemp plain weave.

Worn out, compressed cushion inserts should be replaced before you have a slipcover made for your chair or sofa. Here are five things to know about choosing new foam.

Slipcover Makeover Tip

Don’t let those pleats and gathers on your 1990’s sofa back cushions cramp your style. Redesign the covers with boxing!  Size the boxing width to match the zipper placket width, add welt cord on both sides, and voila, your cushions are updated.
