Custom Slipcovers in Natural Canvas

Cargo Canvas Slipcover by Karen's Custom SlipcoversThere’s nothing like a Natural color slipcover to give worn furniture an instant update.

For this slipcover makeover, my customer chose sanded cotton CarrGo Canvas. It worked great to hide the outdated plaid on her pair of rolled armchairs and ottoman. Now her furniture has a simple, clean look — perfect for her lakeside cottage.

Slipcover Makeover for a Kalamazoo Kitty Chair

Yellow Twill Slipcover by Karen Powell

My sister found this vintage armchair at Kalamazoo Kitty, our favorite local pre-owned furniture store. The groovy green upholstery and retro 50’s features weren’t exactly her style. So, I made a simple, cotton twill slipcover to highlight the chair’s classic, boxy shape.

Roz Yellow Slipcover PrepI padded the skinny T-shape arms to give the slipcover something to grab onto and help create a smooth fit. I also removed the old skirt and padded the inside back to get rid of the tuft marks.

We added castors, too. It made a huge difference! The original chair had a low profile so we added 1.5″ wheels. Now the chair sits at the same height as the other furniture pieces in the living room.

Chair Slipcover Before After

My customer’s comfy chair was in great shape but she wanted a more contemporary look. For this slipcover makeover I removed the skirt and detached the back cushion so I could box it — an instant update! I added a wood button closure at back and exposed the legs. ¬†Little details make all the difference.
